Early maturation favors the quality of Malbec mendocino

Mendoza, March 2020. Grape producers in Mendoza, specifically Valle de Uco, Vista Flores, have high expectations regarding the improvement of quality of their wines, due to several waves of high temperatures with little rainfall, which occurred very punctual, during the month of February.

In this sense, Antonina’s team  expressed satisfaction with the climatic phenomenon that resulted  in the advance of the ripening of the grapes, as the harvest was carried out about twenty days before its  historical date.

“They were very good conditions to achieve optimal healing, in general. Therefore, we didn’t see to used fungicide treatments  to prevent grape diseases. We achieved an excellent quality of grapes,  with a privileged maturation, both in skin and seeds. All this makes it naturally translate into an extraordinary potential of our  wine that is already characterized by its  original  intensity and freshness”.. Antonina Team

2017: An atypical year

Mendoza, March 2020. The year  2017 was atypical  in  Mendoza, the Region of Argentine Malbec. Several frosts occurred in spring and  because,  in general,  it  was a cold year.

“Wine maturity demanded more time than the  normal. And having little production, due to frost, the grape was more concentrated, the flavors more intense”, says  Felipe  Stahlschmidt, Antonina winemaker.

Antonina’s winemaker preciselyh elped to have a higher acidity,  which highlighted the fruity and achieved a fresher and tastier wine.
